FAQ

What is the purpose of the AALA Roundup Convention?

The small group planning this convention believes that one of the biggest challenges facing people in recovery is the difficulty in developing meaningful relationships and communication skills with other members of our community. In an era dominated by social media and dating apps, this challenge becomes even more pronounced. Consequently, this convention is grounded in two primary goals: (1) fostering meaningful connections within our sober community and (2) enhancing our understanding of the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, particularly our ability to “practice these principles in all of our affairs,” including how we interact with one another.

I've heard that no phones can be used during the AALA Roundup 2025 Convention?

The success of the AALA Roundup 2025 Convention relies on our collective commitment to the purposes and goals described above. While we acknowledge that our phones are powerful tools for communication and efficiency, they can also create barriers to genuine connection with friends and fellow participants. Therefore, we will ask attendees to refrain from using their phones during convention events, including banquets and workshops, and encourage everyone to limit phone use while interacting with members of our community. We won't be enforcing this request, nor imposing any strict rules about phone use. However, we ask that all participants respect this request to honor those who wish to fully engage in the experience of building community without screens.

When is the AALA Roundup 2025 Convention?

It will be hosted in June.

How can I register?

Registration will open SOON! If tickets are sold out, a waitlist option will be available on the registration page, and everyone on the waitlist will be notified if spots open up.

If I am registered and wish to cancel my registration, when is the last date to do so, and how do I accomplish this?

If you fail to cancel your hotel registration following the cancellation of your convention registration, the hotel will charge you for the room. By canceling your hotel reservation, you will allow another community member to secure lodging.

How can I find a roommate?

The AALA Facebook page (a private group to protect anonymity) facilitates communication between members. Feel free to post about roommate requests or other convention-related inquiries. If you'd like to join the Facebook page, please contact us to request access.

Will a schedule of events be available prior to the convention weekend?

Yes, we will post the schedule on this website ahead of the convention! Attendees will be notified by email when the schedule is available online.
